We’re Groove Control — Doug Hunley, Scott Hoops & Gary Thill. Our music is a fun mix of favorites from the 60’s & 70’s . . . before and beyond. We’re mostly acoustic, with a little bit of electric fizz thrown in – perfect for your gathering, party, cafe, bar … or you name it! Mainly, we strive for a good time, and good music.

WE’D LOVE TO PLAY AT YOUR EVENT OR PARTY!

We love an up-close, casual atmosphere. We’re very flexible and can accommodate just about any sort of hoedown, shindig, or wild wingding. We can bring our own PA system — Not too loud, not too quiet. It’ll fit wherever you put us. Got a favorite song? Let us know and we’ll work it up for you.

The Groove Controllers

Scott Hoops

Scott is a long time drummer with experience across the country - including the famous Whisky a GoGo in Los Angeles. Scott delivers a rousing steady beat to any tune, using a full kit, or the remarkable "slap top" cajon – he‘ll keep your feet tappin’!

Gary Thill

Gary knows how to play virtually all songs written between the years of 1955 and 1987. He’s got a fine smooth voice, but can turn on the twang when needed (eg. Marshall Tucker Never Trust a Stranger).

Doug Hunley

Doug started playing the banjo at 15, but realizing no girls were interested in banjo players, switched to the guitar. They still weren’t much interested. With a fondness for JJ Cale grooves and the like, his easy-breezy, rock-a-billy, bluesy leads are toe-tappy contagious.

HOUSE PARTIES, EVENTS & GATHERINGS

Playing for you at your house party, yard party, BBQ… is great fun for us! We love the up-close, casual atmosphere. We’re very flexible and can accommodate just about any sort of hoedown, shindig or wingding. Let’s talk!

PA SYSTEM
We have our own super portable PA system, which works very well for small to midsize locations – Not too loud, not too quiet. It’ll fit wherever you put us. We’re also happy to tap into whatever system you have.
BIG STAGE, SMALL STAGE,
NO STAGE AT ALL...

We’ve played in backyards, in corners, on puny stages, or spread out when we can…. whatever space you have will suit us fine. We set up to provide the right kind of sound for your venue. Often that means we can be well heard, but conversation and conviviality is no problem. The perfect mix. We can bring a canopy as well.
ALL TIME SLOTS CONSIDERED
We’re happy to play short gigs, or to do an 8-12 evening. Weekdays and weekends… we just like to play!
DIG THE VIBE
Our vibe is a great one for casual events. We’re compatible with YOUR vibe – large, medium or small, we will play to match.
